Mutual UFO Network, the world's largest civilian UFO research organization.
MUFON was founded in 1969 to investigate the growing UFO phenomenon through a motivated team of trained investigators and researchers.

"Debunkers have largely enjoyed the offensive against ufology, by
dismissively explaining away UFO reports and lampooning ufologists and their
subject. A distorted view is presented to the public of unidentified
flying objects and those who study them, an erroneous view not entirely
mitigated by sparring contests on TV programs. This presentation reverses
matters. It shows that weaknesses debunkers claim for ufology also reside
in the practice of the Science that the debunkers claim to defend. Beyond
this, fundamental logical errors that debunkers commit are thrown into stark
relief. This presentation's larger intent is to expose barriers that make
it difficult for the mainstream scientific and intellectual community to
"stomach" UFOs, to illustrate areas where honest discussion can occur, and
to propose ways to improve the situation. For I believe that we,
collectively, have the opportunity to make a difference."
Bill Murphy is currently a member of the MUFON
History Project Team, a MUFON Research Associate in both History and Quality
Control, and a MUFON Field Investigator, as well as a columnist for the
Michigan MUFON Newsletter and a staff writer for the Illinois MUFON
Newsletter "Visitors". He is also a Board Member of both the J. Allen
Hynek Center for UFO Studies and Illinois MUFON. Bill was leadoff speaker
and co-Master of Ceremonies at the August 17th "UFO Symposium 3: Truth...If
You Dare", held in Tinley Park, Illinois, that also included presenters
Stanton Friedman, Donald Schmitt, and Ted Phillips. Interested in UFOs
since the 1960s, Bill also brings 30 years of experience in the academic and
technical worlds to this presentation.
